If you listen to podcasts and ever use your phone in landscape orientation, you might have noticed that your app doesn’t rotate with your phone…

…unless you use Breaker.

Not Apple Podcasts.

Not Spotify.

Not Castro. Not Overcast. Not Pocket Casts.

Not any other podcast app, except for Breaker.

It’s a small detail, but this is just one of the ways that Breaker goes the extra mile to make our users happy.

Why it matters

When we talked to our users many of them told us that they listen to podcasts in the background, with another app running in the foreground. If they wanted to switch back to their podcast app, they would need to rotate their device. In some cases this was difficult or impossible.

For example, we talked to a user named Alex, who had their phone mounted horizontally to their car’s dashboard, switching back and forth between Breaker and a navigation app. We spoke to another user, Sam, who watched live sports on their phone with the audio muted and podcasts playing in the background. We also heard from Lisa, who would go on nature walks, listening to podcasts while taking photos with the Camera app, often in landscape orientation.

We want to satisfy the needs of these users, as well as anyone else who sometimes turns their phone. We believe apps should adapt to humans, not the other way around.

Of course, Breaker also works great in portrait orientation. But, unlike all the other podcast apps, Breaker supports landscape too!
