After we published our 2017 Breaker Year in Review, we saw something truly surprising.
At Breaker, our top hot episodes are determined by our listeners. The weighted score of listens, likes, and comments determines which episodes rise up the charts.
For our 2017 Breaker Year in Review blog post on January 1, we published the top 3 hot episodes of 2017. Then something interesting happened.
By the next day, the #2 episode of 2017, The Knowledge Project – Naval Ravikant, passed S-Town – Chapter I, to be the all-time #1 episode on Breaker. Despite being over 10 months old, it also hit the Breaker chart for hot episodes today!
This got us thinking that maybe the top episodes of the year on Breaker might be worth a listen (or re-listen). So here’s a longer list of what was hot on Breaker last year…

Trends of 2017
S-Town was the hottest overall podcast this year on Breaker. All seven episodes were released on Tuesday, March 28, making it the most binge-worthy show of 2017.
Another hot podcast of 2017 was Reply All, a show that took some deep dives into the great mysteries of the internet and modern technology.
How I Built This with Guy Raz had some of the juiciest and most inspiring stories from the early days of today’s giant companies. Six episodes of founder interviews made the list this year, making it the show with the most top episodes.
Reid Hoffman, founding CEO of LinkedIn and currently an investor at Greylock, released a new podcast in 2017 and it took off, due to exciting interviews with top tech thinkers and influencers.
