Partnership on AI
5 companies with some of the largest databases on the planet has launched a partnership on AI. The main purpose of the partnership is to ”benefit people and society”. Focus is to do research and promote best practices.
This is a historic partnership, and is a step out of the walled gardens.

Snapchat Launches
Snapchat has launched a few new cool things.
The company (who are now called Snap Inc.) launched their first hardware. The Spectacles. It’s basically $130 glasses that record 10s videos.
It has one button to start recording with the115 degree lens (approx human vision). It records circular video which puts an almost comic angle on the horizontal vs. vertical video discussion.
The glasses are being rolled out very slowly.

Also Snapchat has turned QR codes into an ad format. Advertisers can put them on products, billboards or anywhere people can scan. In this case, people were sent to a special geo-filter.
Tinder testing user payment and new ways of connecting
Lacking a bit of views on your beautiful holiday pics on your Tinder profile? Now you can pay money for up to 10x extra impressions.

Youtube is creating a community
Youtube has been testing features that allow their creators to create a feed of text posts, gifs and photos. It would also allow fans to comment and like these posts.
So people wouldn’t go to Youtube just to watch videos anymore, and at the same time allow creators to reach Youtube audience with smaller things on the platform, instead of posting to Twitter and FB only.

Youtube GO
YouTube has launched a new app called Youtube Go for offline viewing and sharing of videos.
The app has been launched in India, and is meant for areas with limited connection.
Dynamic Ads for Retail
Facebook has launched Dynamic Ads for retail, that lets brick & mortar merchants advertise for their in-stock products.
No more waste of ads on sold out products, but much more footfall from FB ads. At least in theory.
Messenger Bot Payments
30k Messenger bots can now accept payments natively without users leaving. It is part of the new closed beta that developers can apply for.
Twitter Moments for everyone
Twitter will now allow all users to create a Moment, where you can add the tweets you want.. For now only on desktop,
The moments can be embedded.
Facebook Work launching
Since 2015, Facebook have been working on Work. Rumors say that it will launch commercially on October 10.
