On Tuesday Garry Marshall, one of the greatest influences on American entertainment in the last half-century, passed away in Burbank, California.

Mr. Marshall may be best known for his work in network television and Hollywood film, adding a rich amount of romantic and family comedies to the American canon. He was also, of special note to Samuel French, the creator of Happy Days.
