Gloria Calderon Kellett is a successful TV writer who has worked on shows including How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Devious Maids, and iZombie. She began writing plays in college and received many awards for her first play Plane Strangers. She has written such plays as In Her Shoes, and Baggage, which have both played at the Hudson Avenue Theatre and are published as a compilation called Accessories. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University and received her master’s degree in theatre from the University of London. Gloria has also worked at the Royal Court Theater and the London International Festival of Theatre.

Besides sharing the name of a famous Spanish playwright, this “Calderon” has received her own accolades as a recipient of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Award. Additionally, Gloria’s work has been seen at the Stella Adler Theatre and The National Comedy Theater and she also lectures at Loyola Marymount University. Her play, Blind, focuses on two strangers who meet and realize they have more in common that they realize. Come check out Gloria Calderon Kellett’s Blind, performing on Friday August 7th at 8 p.m. at the East 13th Street Theatre.
