D.L. Coburn’s two hander, The Gin Game, a two-hander featuring Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones, begins previews tonight at the Golden Theatre.

The 90-year-old actress and 84-year-old actor shared a stage in 1966, and are joining forces again for an evening-length conversation between card players in a nursing home. Directed bye Leonard Foglia, The Gin Game will open on October 13. Click here to order tickets, and here for the production’s website.

Mr. Jones, a Tony Award winner for Fences and The Great White Hope, appeared on Broadway earlier this season in You Can’t Take It With You. Ms. Tyson, meanwhile, won the lead actress Tony Award in 2013 for The Trip to Bountiful. In addition to their time on Broadway in 1966, the duo appear in a long-running Off Broadway production of Jean Genet’s The Blacks, and in several films.

The pair will perform their eight performances a week at the same theater where The Gin Game has its 1977 premiere with Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy. The play was revived in 1997 with Charles Durning and Julie Harris.
