How I Stopped Whining and Pivoted

I primarily write about travel. Like everyone else, I’m stuck in place right now. I figured I had two choices: whine (like anyone would feel sorry for a writer who normally travels the world on someone else’s dime) or pivot.

I’m not much of a whiner. So what I did was get my butt in the chair to write what I know — travel. Only this time, I’m writing fiction. Here’s the premise from the cover blurb:

Her mother went to prison for embezzlement when she was sixteen and never returned. Despite that, Jordan West has a loving husband and a successful career as a travel writer. But like the mother she longs to find on her world travels, Jordan has a tiny problem — she steals.

The story is plotted and the writing is underway. And guess what? You’re invited to read the chapters in advance. I’m posting them on a Medium publication designed to have both the book chapters and a behind-the-scenes look at how I’m going about the writing.

You may have already seen the first few posts last month on what I’ve researched and how I plotted the book. I hope you’ll pivot with me, and keep up with Jordan in her first destination: Bonaire.

Here’s the link to the new pub, called Travel accomplice. To keep up, be sure to follow the pub or subscribe to my off-site newsletter: Accomplice.

Can’t wait to find out what you think!

Have a great week,

Melinda
