Ever tried something impulsive in life? Something that you take up out of the blue, something which you always wanted to do, something which wouldn’t take a week, a month or a year, maybe just a weekend, and complete it within those 48 free hours!

I tried something similar this weekend. I wanted to take a solo-trip forever, where I could go camping, experience the weather, enjoy the nature, be peaceful and explore. Where I would get out of the comfort zone, make a quick decision and JUST DO IT!

The trip to Kanatal and Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand this weekend was a part of what I call “The Weekend Experiment.” It was fantastic, an experience in itself and I made a lot of new friends and acquaintances along the way. Instead of lazing around, I took a decision and that resulted in meeting new people, getting new experiences, networking, exploring, getting out of the comfort zone and giving rise to this whole process.

As a part of this experiment, every weekend which allows me to accomplish something that I have long been procrastinating, will be done and dusted. For this weekend I plan to finish up with the domain flipping ebook and launch it on Amazon. I planned to write it 6 months ago but never started in the first place.

A small process that can be followed to figure out what to do for the Weekend Experiment if you wish to accomplish something that was long lost into your subconscious :

  1. Make a bucket list. Don’t have one? Well, I think you should make one as soon as you find time. You are never too old to have a bucket list. Every one has something which they always wanted to do, but never did. Now is the time. Put it into a list and give it a dead line.
  2. Look at the list. Out of all the things that you wanted to do, what can be done over a weekend. Even if not completely, you could at least start it and give rise to the process. That would keep you going.
  3. Once you figure out what is it that you could finish or at least start this weekend, we accomplish it this weekend and dust the burden off the shoulders.

Some of the things that can be done as a part of the weekend experiment :

  1. Ever wanted to start off that book you wanted to write? Well, start it off with the plot, the first chapter or a small summary and then build it forward. If you don’t start it now, you might never start it in the first place. Perhaps, the world would never get a chance to read that perfect story of yours if you don’t start it today.
  2. Wanted to start off that website or business? It’s time to set it up this weekend.
  3. Explore the city you live in. Already done that? Well, why not the one closer to yours that you never went to. A day-trip is something you can plan instantly and cross off the list.
  4. Surprise your family/friends who you kept on postponing. Trust me, it is so worth it.
  5. Volunteer for an organization. Go for a social project. Just find out the social organizations in your city, talk to them and start changing the world.
  6. Want to learn Photoshop or some new software. Good! This weekend it is!
  7. Want to learn a course in personal finance or a new programming language? 48 are good to start with. After that, it is all about application.
  8. Start that blog you always wanted. Set it up and start with the first post.
  9. Finish that book you always wanted to read.

These are some of the examples. There are many more things and the list is endless. It is up to you to decide and execute it.

The idea is to START OFF, get in action and get into the habit of GETTING THINGS DONE. This is the only way around procrastination. You can’t finish something you never started in the first place. The only way forward is to try. Unless you try and see what works for you, you would never know.

This weekend, let’s try to be more productive, live a little more, try something new, something that was put away for somewhere in the future and LET’s DO IT! Let’s create a better tomorrow for ourselves. Because we deserve it!! YOU DESERVE IT!

To a productive weekend!
STOP EXISTING. START LIVING
