Four out of ten Australians bin clothes instead of donating them or recycling them too — we can do better than that.

It’s alarming that the Australian fast fashion industry is making 2 billion dollars a year. It’s also interesting to note that 75% percent of Australian shoppers have thrown away whatever they’ve bought within the year they’ve bought them, and 30% threw away more that 10 articles of clothing. Clearly there’s a correlation here, fashion fashion isn’t built to last — not in construction nor in taste.

Almost 25% of Australians have admitted to throwing clothes out within a year of purchasing them. This is what happens when you consume too much media and follow too many trends or fads, without taking the time to discern the people who are making them, and the impact on the environment. It’s also often a sign that you don’t really know who you are, you don’t really know what you like and don’t like, you don’t have a signature style, you don’t know what your tastes are so you keep buying the next new trendy item.
