ITP Winter Show Poster

For my version of the winter show poster, I decided to do a take on a classic painting: Norman Rockwell’s self-portrait.

I wanted to do something that plays on this portrayal of the traditional artist’s process while bringing in technology — I had initially wanted to use a machine arm, but that didn’t work super well with the mirror, so I decided to have a robot painting a human face.

I don’t have any drawing skills to speak of, so I had to work with what I knew how to do and make a fairly simplistic version in Illustrator.

My first pass

This was my first attempt. I felt like it was still missing something, so I did a few more passes to try and remedy it. I’m not sure which turned out the best — I’d certainly welcome input on that.
