As the winter months approach, the streets of New York City begin to brim with the anticipation of frosty winds and icy chills. Living in this city my whole life, I’ve experienced firsthand how the cold temperatures can take a toll on our skin, leaving it dry, dull, and in need of some extra loving. However, with the right skincare approach, we can make sure that our skin remains healthy and radiant, even during the most brutal winter days. So, let me share with you some essential tips for keeping your skin glowing and nourished throughout the upcoming frosty season.

Moisturize frequently.

One of the most effective ways to combat the winter dryness is to become best friends with a rich and nourishing moisturizer. As the cold settles in, I’ve found that opting for thick moisturizers infused with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and ceramides can work wonders. These ingredients have been my skin’s saving grace, providing a much-needed boost of hydration and creating a protective barrier against the harsh cold. The gentle mist works wonders, creating an oasis of hydration that shields your skin from the harsh, drying effects of the chilly weather. Trust and believe, having a humidifier in your living space can make all the difference, leaving your skin feeling happy, healthy, and thoroughly nourished, even during the frostiest of nights.

Exfoliate

I know what you may be thinking, “my skin is already sensitive during winter, so why add an exfoliant to the mix?” Well, here’s the secret: liquid exfoliants. These are *muah* chef’s kiss. They delicately buff away the dry, flaky skin without any harshness and irritation. Here are a few clean liquid exfoliants.

Please wear sunscreen.

Ah, the often-forgotten hero of skincare — sunscreen. Even during the chilly winter months, its role reigns supreme. Many of us tend to overlook this crucial step, assuming that the sun’s rays are less intense. But here’s the ugly truth I’ve come to understand: the sun’s UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds and wreak havoc on our delicate skin, leading to long-term damage and premature aging. I’m pretty sure none of us want that, I know I don’t. That’s why incorporating sunscreen into your daily regimen is non-negotiable. It acts as a reliable shield, not just against sunburn but also against the harsh, drying effects of the winter winds. So, whether it’s a snowy day or a cloudy afternoon, don’t forget to layer on that sunscreen, guarding your skin’s health and preserving its beautiful glow.
