“Sirens”

A fictional poem

Adobe Stock: by pololia

Silence
Fills the room
Staring at the wall
Cause I can’t stand to see you crying
Then we hear the sirens
As an ambulance races down the street
Then it abruptly cuts off
And the whole neighborhood feels the loss
Whatever we were fighting
About — over — through
Can wait
As we both feel the weight
Of sorrow
Of heavy hearts
