Bricklane is a technology startup whose mission is to create a better property market. Since 2016 we’ve been providing our customers with a way to own property, and receive its financial benefits, whatever their savings level. From £100, customers can invest in expertly chosen residential property portfolios, and earn rental income + price changes. With ISA, standard, and pension accounts, Bricklane makes property investment accessible and tax efficient, whilst providing a better service to renters, with industry leading practises like 3 year tenancies as standard, and rent rises no greater than inflation. We are backed by Zoopla, LocalGlobe and Jamjar; the people behind TransferWise, MoneySuperMarket, Innocent Drinks and more.

Overview of the Creative Designer role

If you’re brilliantly creative, have a proven track record, and a portfolio to be proud of; you’ll fit in perfectly with our team of engineers, marketers, and finance/property-bods (and designers of course) in London.

It’s an exciting role and there’s lots to do: digital and print advertising, marketing site promotions, printed and digital guides, social media, tube and other outdoor media, tenant communications… etc. etc.

Reporting directly to the Chief Design Officer, and alongside the Growth Lead, this is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Creative Designer to join a growing startup.

What will I be doing?

The role is concerned with creating brilliant ideas and designs that can work across our digital channels, as well as our partners’ digital and print media.

You’ll work against briefs and challenges set by not only the Marketing team, but wider teams such as the Product and Property teams. Being able to respond to both detailed and top-line briefs is key.

You’ll help create entire campaigns from scratch, utilising existing typographic styles and photography; but perhaps also creating or commissioning illustrations as you see fit. Whatever you create, you’ll need to ensure consistency across different media.

Alongside, you’ll have direct ownership over existing print materials — a key communication channel for the business. Ensuring their upkeep and finding ways to increase their effectiveness will be one of your main responsibilities.

As part of a small but rapidly growing startup, you’ll work closely with all departments, meaning you have the opportunity to directly influence the success of the business, and help shape the brand’s look and feel and tone of voice.

This role will be based in our Finsbury Square office, in London.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Creative Designer who can make brilliant ideas and brilliant design engage with our customers and catch the eye of those who don’t know us yet.

This is a mid-level role in Bricklane’s in-house Marketing and Growth team. You will be responsible for the design of promotional material, digital communications and internal communications in line with the Bricklane brand. All work produced must communicate what makes Bricklane different and must be compelling, interesting and eye-catching.

Skills and Experience

The most important thing is that you are creative; conscientious; proactive; enthusiastic; and detailed and organised in your approach — ability speaks louder than qualifications. Some things we’ll be looking out for:

  • Ability to interpret existing brand guides into new creative, and build a library of reusable or adaptable creative
  • Ability to work to briefs, and be reactive to new opportunities as they arise
  • Full proficiency in InDesign and Illustrator or equivalent tools
  • An aptitude for creative use of technology: resourcefully utilising existing tools to realise your ideas; like GIFs or video content from found footage: your job will be to make things that get us noticed
  • Ability to artwork your designs to supplied print specifications and liaise with third parties and shepherd into production
  • Ability to work closely with copywriters and be guardian of the brand’s tone of voice and values
  • Ability to write HTML and CSS is an advantage but not essential
  • Experience of or interest in motion graphics is an advantage but not essential
  • Qualification in Graphic Design or similar is an advantage but not essential

Salary: c. £35,000

Bricklane offers:
