A Dance And Diversity LEGO Celebration Nobody Saw Coming

As far as “deeper meaning” LEGO sets go, there have been a few in the past. The LOVE sculpture, the STEM set, heck, even Disney’s famous camera would qualify. But then there are the ones like “Everyone is Awesome” and Keith Haring’s “Dancing Figures”, and this latter set isn’t very obvious at first. What is increasingly clear though is that LEGO does put more and more thought into their sets. Be that because they’re increasingly targeting adults, or perhaps a shift in what customers appreciate, there are far more sets that make us ponder about “the meaning of life” than ever before. I, for one, welcome these as they go a long way towards making LEGO more than just a toy. Yet, I still didn’t expect to find Keith Haring’s “Dancing Figures” on the shelves. This one came out of nowhere.

That LEGO does art sets is nothing new. I have built and reviewed at least 8 of them myself. I generally think they’re incredible examples of creativity. Not just the original art pieces, but the LEGO brickification of them as well. Keith Haring’s “Untitled (Dance)” piece, however, caught me off-guard.
