I had no high hopes for Apple’s 2024 Spring event. We all knew what it was going to be about: iPads — shiny slabs of metal and glowing glass. The refresh was inevitable and some might even say very much required, but looking at Apple’s iPad lineup from an average consumer’s perspective, I am pretty certain most of could have probably gone another year without a release. I even started thinking Apple’s likely anemic spring event will be regarded as yet another “could have been a Tweet”. Glad I watched for longer than 10 minutes.

Don’t get me wrong, Tim touting this the biggest iPad event ever was at the very least cringe-worthy because let’s face it, how much can you talk about iPads? Not that much. 38 minutes to be more exact, and let’s be honest, that isn’t all that long once you remove marketing videos, the somewhat awkward Apple Vision Pro plug — yes, they’re not cancelling it — the scene transitions, the pauses, all littered with 5G, AI and praying mantis poses as if everyone was trying to emulate master Tim himself.
