From Ice To Brick, The Greatest Irish Story Of Them All

Or is it a British success story? Never mind, while the two sides fight it out, I’ll just tell you Shackleton’s Endurance story with LEGO bricks…

Boats and I go way back, and so does the Endurance. The first LEGO set I received as a 7-year-old kid — the Dark Shark — was a boat. 32 years later, I am back to building a boat. But this one is a lot bigger and comes with a lot more history. 100 years of it, to be more exact. I am talking about the Endurance, of course, the shipwreck with the most archival footage of its time and as a LEGO set, the boat with the — arguably — most interesting history. There’s also the Titanic, for sure, but its demise happened in a matter of hours, and it is ultimately a story of many failures, while the Endurance is one of success despite being a shipwreck.

The Endurance is a massive set from the Icons line, and true to its name, it does require some “endurance” to build. After all, we’re talking about 3011 pieces. As with most of these large sets, it is meant for fans above the age of 18, and I can certainly see why:
