One of my all-time favourite movies is Love Actually. One of my all-time favourite TV Series is Californication. What do they have in common? Love. Yes, I may have a LEGO studded heart, but it beats, feels and breaks like everyone else’s, and when the LEGO Group announced they’d be releasing Robert Indiana’s famous LOVE sculpture, I knew it had to be part of my LEGO ART collection.

While we generally regard love as a warm and fuzzy feeling, and pop culture, consumerism have turned it into something that only highlights the good, fun, inspiring parts of this yet scientifically unexplained feeling we call love, that’s far from reality. If you ever loved, you know yourself, love comes at a great cost of emotional turmoil. If you’ve ever listened to music, you know love is just as many times associated with sadness, desperation, hopelessness, and tragedy as it is with happiness.

Love is complicated, so it’s only fitting that the LOVE sculpture’s story isn’t as straightforward as we’d like love to be, either.
