One of our leading entrepreneurs, Admir Huseini, is reshaping the relationship between education and software development in Tetova, Macedonia.

“I thought I could make a difference and then I started doing it,” says Admir Huseini, founder of Learning Center Gauss, an E-Learning school for Mathematics. Admir has always valued and recognized the importance of education. He was a dedicated and “good student growing up,” and eventually accomplished his goal of becoming a mathematician. He worked in public schools and saw the need for improvement in the science and mathematics curriculum. Since February 2013, Admir has been working on Learning Center Gauss, an E-Learning school for Mathematics and Computer science. Learning Center Gauss provides young and talented students with a platform to enhance their mathematics and programming skills. By empowering communities to contribute to the digital world of software production, Learning Center Gauss aims to ultimately help students produce useful software products. In Admir’s words, “the goal of Gauss School is to offer an excellent, personal and friendly experience of learning mathematics and programming.”

Admir credits Bridge for Billions with allowing him to confidently take concrete steps with the tools that gave him a better understanding of what his possibilities and limitations are.“Bridge for Billions added a lot of value to Gauss School. The business tools, combined with personal mentorship, give a very good possibility to evaluate and define its products and position on the market. This in turn is very helpful to set priorities and decide which steps should be taken.” He also recognizes the impact of mentorship saying “[I once wrote] that it would be very desirable to work with the courses and technology from MIT in our small classroom. At the time it looked a bit too ambitious, but Bridge for Billions matched me up with Karine, who is a PhD student from MIT. We now discuss on a weekly basis how to realize this goal, and I hope these discussions also make her graduate studies a bit more fun.”

Before joining Bridge for Billions, Admir admits he struggled and felt overwhelmed due to a lack of structure. In his own words, he needed help to “define his concept, define his product and strategically outline his next steps.” Furthermore, he testifies that after the careful completion of several tools, overtime he has expanded his vision for Learning Center Gauss from a local to a global vision. He acknowledges that “patience and perseverance are very important at this moment. Gauss School is an ambitious project and there are many setbacks, disappointments and failures to endure, until the right team of people do the right job and we are productive and successful.” Huseini follows his favourite quote when in the need for inspiration “have no fear of perfection — you’ll never reach it anyway”.
