We’re happy to introduce a new cohort of Bridge for Billions entrepreneurs about to start their incubation journey in July! For the next three months they will be working alongside their mentors, through our Eight Business Creation Tools, in order to strengthen and develop their businesses. Our July cohort features an international group of entrepreneurs and mentors spanning seven cities, speaking five languages, and involving a variety of projects from music to drones. This diverse group is composed of:

Anup Som

Anup Som is an entrepreneur, who works in the Information and Communication Technology Sector. Through his business, Clozin, Anup strives to help those people whose locations are so remote that they don’t have a postal address by making them exist on a map. Anup splits his time between the United State and India, which makes Bridge’s unique online platform perfect for Anup because he is able to work on his project wherever he goes. Anup will be mentored by both Nicolas Perdomo, from Valladolid, Spain, and Peter Komfolio, from Portland, Oregon. Nicolas as the founder of GoodByeMrBurns, a project aimed at giving visibility to social enterprises, was very interested in helping Anup develop his social enterprise. Peter, a Carnegie Mellon Heinz Public Policy School graduate, is passionate about technology and how to use it for a humanitarian impact making him a perfect fit for Anup.

Sara Illana

Romandela: Entrepreneur (t): Sara Illana, Mentor (b): Montserrat Fernandez Blanco

Sara Illana has a passion for classical music, and this passion has inspired Romandela. The goal of Romandela is to revive and promote the Spanish musical culture. This project in the Cultural and Creative Activities Sector brings together classical music with modern technology. Sara is from Asturias, Spain, and currently lives in Madrid. Since this idea was brought about by a passion for music, Bridge for Billions is helping Sara explore the business nuances of Romandela. Sara will be mentored by Montserrat Fernandez Blanco. Montserrat, who works at Impact Hub Milan and holds a PhD in Information Society from the Università Bicocca, is passionate about cultural innovation which makes her a perfect fit for Romandela.

Immaculada Martin Cabello

InCOMEinCOMMON: Entrepreneur (t) Immaculada Martin Cabello, Mentor (b) Jon Lozano

Immaculada Martin Cabello started InCOMEinCOMMON with the goal of connecting people with objects they wish to use, but not pay. She hopes to reduce consumerism as well as the impact that it has on our environment by creating this platform to strengthen the collaborative economy. Immaculada is from Cordoba, Spain, and will be mentored on this social tech project by Jon Lozano, a Software Engineer. Jon loved the social aspect of Immaculada’s project and had given some thought before to a project such as this one. This mutual interest helps drive their mentoring relationship.

Varun Gulati

Dronegama: Entrepreneur (t) Varun Gulati, Mentor (b): Michael Lin

Varun Gulati is an entrepreneur in the Service Industry, where he created a program called Dronegama. Dronegama aims to be the premiere online drone-renting platform that connects drone seekers, lenders and flyers. Located in New York City, New York, Varun is using Bridge to strengthen and refine his business plan with the help of his mentor Michael Lin, who is very interested in the drone market. Michael is an experienced entrepreneur himself whose company was acquired last year.

Kenneth Woanyah

SEEK International: Entrepreneur (t): Kenneth Woanyah, Mentor (b): Juan Fernandez

Kenneth Woanyah has started SEEK International. This education NGO works to eliminate ignorance and violence in society through literature and writing. SEEK connects readers and provides them with reading lists to discuss as a community. Located in Accra, Ghana, Kenneth and his mentor, Juan Fernandez from Spain, can use Bridge’s online platform to seamlessly strengthen Kenneth’s current plan. Juan has past experience helping NGOs find sustainable business models, which makes him a perfect fit as a mentor to Kenneth.

George Martin

George Martin, working in Information and Communication Technology, wishes to help bring incubation to Avila by creating an incubator and helping connect entrepreneurs with investment. George’s project, Disrupt, will fill a much needed gap that exists in Avila today. Avila currently lacks any form of incubation program, which makes Bridge for Billions the perfect solution to George’s needs. George will be mentored by Julie Murat, and Pablo Santaeufemia. As Head of Operations and CEO, respectively, of Bridge for Billions, both Julie and Pablo are part of the incubation world. This, coupled with the synergies evident between the two programs, makes them the perfect mentors for George.
