Pulpofilms is a production startup that allows foundations, NGOs, and private donors to fund audiovisual projects with a social impact.

Their mission is to provide a reasonable income for filmmakers and a budget for films that otherwise would be too expensive to produce. Pulpofilms aims to lower both the financial and geographical barriers to entry in the film industry.

Ana’s desire to make audiovisual projects, her passion for science and storytelling, and her discontent with the current state of the world are what inspired her to begin her venture. She’s continuously motivated by her deeply rooted conviction that there is always an alternative way to accomplish something.

Ana’s mentor, Juan Fernandez, has helped her turn her abstract ideas into concrete ones, putting them to the test of reality. Juan draws from his experience working for Audiense to provide valuable insight into the media production industry.

AR Clinician — United Kingdom

The design process for crowns, dentures and implants is cumbersome and complicated, but AR Clinician wants to change that. With AR glasses and a smart pen, dentists would be able to superimpose graphics onto the study cast and manipulate it on the physical model itself rather than the means of a 2D monitor and workspace. The design and prescription can be completed in one simple process instead of multiple tedious steps.

AR Clinician enables dental professionals to use CAD software in a more efficient manner by helping them better visualize different treatment plans applied to a study model and choosing the correct option. In the classroom, AR Clinician makes it easier to understand dental anatomy by teaching dentistry in an intuitive and easy to understand way.

This team was inspired to start their venture through their passion for AR and the dental industry. They drew upon their experiences as dental students struggling to visualize treatment plans, and they hope for the industry to embrace recent technological advances.

Their mentor, Andrew Larkins, provides valuable insight into their potential consumer market by drawing upon his professional experiences working as the CEO for Lime Tree Innovation. Andrew’s expertise and involvement in technological innovation comes from spending 10+ years in the field working for companies like Triteq and Sony.
