Why You Should Embrace Messenger For Business — Part 1

There are now 1 billion people are on Messenger!

There’s a reason many people prefer to communicate with friends and family through private messaging: it’s fast and convenient. And increasingly people want to communicate with businesses in the same efficient way.

This gives businesses an enormous opportunity to connect with people using a platform they already know… and love, Messenger has made it possible to connect with your customers on a human level, making personalised and scalable communication easier than ever before!

Pages Messaging: New Ways for People and Businesses to Connect

Over a billion people visit Pages every month looking for more information from businesses.

Some features:

  • Send private messages to a Page from local awareness ads
  • Reply to comments privately with a message

#1: Share Messenger Codes

One way people can connect with your business is through Messenger codes, just like a Snapchat code, these are codes people can scan with their app to initiate a private message with your business.

To get the Messenger code for your Facebook Page, go to your Facebook page’s message inbox. You will find an icon for your messenger code at the bottom.

The beauty of messenger codes is that they can be used offline! Think of all the ways you can use your code to prompt a conversation with customers… business cards, store signage, brochures, product packaging, you’re only limited by your own creativity! You should add your messenger code anywhere you would want your customers to have the option to connect with you via private message through Facebook.

#2: Promote Private Messaging Links

Facebook now provides both Facebook pages and profiles with a direct, sharable link that will let people initiate a private message when they click it.

You can grab your page’s link by clicking on the drop-down from the Message button.

Once you click “Copy Messenger Link” it will automatically copy the link to your clipboard, as you can see below.

#3: Auto-Reply With Messenger Greetings

Messenger greetings appear to people who are messaging your page for the first time. They differ from Instant Replies, which are sent to people after they’ve sent you a message.

You will now see the option to set a Messenger greeting in your page’s messaging settings. Inside Business Manager, you will find an option to “Add Personalisation” such as the first name of the person to reply to and greetings.

Personalisation can include the messenger’s first name and last name, along with the URL to your website. Customising the Messenger greeting is a great way to let people know what types of messages to send to your page. In addition, you can let them know when to expect a response and from whom they can expect a response.

For certain businesses, personalisation may be useful to let people know what information should NOT be sent via this channel, such as medical information, passwords, or other sensitive data.

#4: Find Businesses by Username or Business Name

Since usernames can be used to locate businesses in Messenger, they’re becoming more prominent on Facebook pages. You can show your username below your page name in place of the category.

Communicate faster and easier

Messaging has become a preferred communication channel for people, and now people and businesses on Facebook can start real-time conversations with each other in more ways.
