“I can’t do it.”
Ruth, a pal from way back, trembled while looking at the rope bridge, and I don’t blame her.
We were travelling through the mountains and expected a few challenges.
Rough ground, bad weather, biting insects.
But we hadn’t considered facing a bridge that swayed.
“Listen, Ruth. The place you’ve come to see is just at the other end. It’s a shame to quit now when you’re so close.”
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity
Albert Einstein, who introduced the theory of relativity, pointed out that our greatest difficulties are often worthwhile because they are opportunities to get what we want or exceed our expectations.
The quote, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity,” is attributed to him, but might stem from John Archibald Wheeler. Nonetheless, it adequately describes Einstein’s attitude and philosophy of life.
