Brigade, the world’s first network for voters, welcomes Voter founder & CEO Hunter Scarborough to the team as we ramp up for 2017, when millions of Americans will participate in state and local elections that impact their daily lives and millions more will seek ways to turn their beliefs into action.

On the heels of Brigade’s first major election cycle, we’re bringing on new talent like Hunter to help build tools for voters to hold their elected officials accountable and collectively advocate for issues while continuing to improve upon our election products.* Hunter joins our team at a crucial time, reporting to VP of Product Gitesh Gohel.

“I’m excited to team up with Hunter to make Brigade the world’s definitive voter empowerment app. His experience and vision are undoubtedly going to help us take our product to the next level,” said Matt Mahan, cofounder and CEO of Brigade.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such a talented and experienced team, who are tackling many of the same problems we were at Voter. We will be sunsetting Voter in 2017, but its spirit and mission will live on at Brigade,” said Hunter Scarborough, founder and CEO of Voter.

Voter, founded in 2014, equipped its iPhone and Android users with objective political information in a simple, ad-free interface. Similar to dating apps, users swiped left or right to agree or disagree with political issues. After answering several questions, they’d be presented with the candidate who most closely aligned with their beliefs, and had a track record to back that up.

Brigade, also founded in 2014, is building web and mobile tools people need to work with fellow voters to influence the policies and elections that affect their lives. Users can create or join debates to make their voice heard on important issues; see how their beliefs compare to fellow voters and politicians who represent them; and influence public opinion in their political districts.

Last year, Brigade rolled out the most comprehensive social ballot guide ever built, which featured personalized recommendations for more than 13,000 federal and state races and ballot propositions based on social connections with friends, neighbors and political influencers in users’ voting districts.
