BBC Radio is opening up more podcast IP to the rest of the world

Have you ever been annoyed that you’ve heard about a great sounding piece of BBC audio content, but you haven’t been able to access it because you’re not in the UK?

Good news, the BBC is opening up more of its content to the world. As well as seeking partnerships and deals with investors due to having their funding frozen.

This is just one of the stories in last week’s Hot Pods newsletter from The Verge.

Spotify’s Platform Specific Feature usage grows — Q&A and Polls

Do you know that you can offer Q&A features and polls on your podcast on Spotify? Even if it’s hosted elsewhere? I honestly didn’t realise until I saw this story that it’s available to outside hosted podcasts. :D

But as people are learning about the features it seems that more people are using them.

Spotify’s post about the features.

Do you use them? Would you?

Here’s a list of countries that prohibit explicit content in Apple Podcasts

Ah, the good old explicit tag. The cause of much concern for newer podcasters. There are often concerns about a podcast’s reach being limited by using the tag, after all some countries ban anything using it outright.

Far more important IMO to be open with potential listeners if there may be content they find objectionable.

But how much can you limit your reach by using the tag? What countries ban anything with it? What countries make it opt-in?

Bumper has your answers.

Want to start a podcast, but don’t know where to start?

There are a lot of details to get right to get your podcast up and running, even besides the recording and equipment you need.
