We are excited to announce that we are rebranding How to do you to Brighter every day.

We are Brighter every day: a publication dedicated to brightening your day with articles focused on word of encouragement for daily nuances.

With Brighter every day, we now prioritise any stories that help people who are pursuing personal development in small steps.

Here’s everything you need to know:

1. We are moving away from “how-to” articles

Our publication on how to do you was dedicated to how-to articles on personal development, spirituality, etc. But now, we are open to all articles without the how-to mark.

We want to inspire people who…

Self-care is all about identifying your own needs and meet all those needs. Focus on yourself and do some activities that nurture your physical, mental, and emotional health. It seems easy and simple, but people often forget about their own needs in their busy lives. Self Care helps you feel how you want to feel – beautiful, cared for, loved, relaxed and nourished. Practicing good self-care can improve your mood, reduce anxiety, and teach you how to treat others.

Imagine if you took care of yourself impeccably throughout the day so that you felt all of these amazing feelings.

“The way to develop decisiveness is to start where you are, with the very next question you face.”

— Napoleon Hill

I am at a stage in my life where I think trusting myself is the best thing to do.

Occasionally, I may have moments of doubt, but they are becoming less and less.

I’ve learned that seeking advice from others too often can delay the decision-making process.

Traveling solo has strengthened my ability to make quick decisions.

Learning to make good decisions has become a necessity for me.

How did I learn this and how can it help you?

I was recently asked what it is I do to stay positive? What is it I do to remain happy, especially over the past year and a half of pandemic stress and constraints? I thought about this putting personal and professional activities aside. What exactly is it that might allow one to remain happy and content amid a global pandemic? Or even when we’re not in a pandemic?

As a child I was scared of my own shadow. It’s very possible I experienced some kind of trauma that embedded itself in my body and erased itself from my consciousness. …

I work for a public school board as an outdoor educator, and since my job is typically student-facing I get laid off every summer. And today marks the first day of my summer break.

I always enjoy this time, even despite the financial stress of temporary unemployment. It’s a chance to relax, have a few adventures, reconnect with friends, maybe try a new hobby.

This year though, as I handed in my keys and walked out the door, it felt different. Freeing. My mood lifted immediately and I felt this sense of peace. I didn’t even care that we’re in…

The way we speak to ourselves has an effect on our mood and almost everything. Believe it or not, but what we say to ourselves determines our present and our future. We can manifest our lives by self-talk.

Recently, I have been more aware of the way I nurture my inner voice and have tried to manifest in being more grateful and giving. It is working a treat. I feel I have more energy and feel better generally.

As a sufferer of depression and schizophrenia, medication isn’t just going to work on its own — I need to work on…

“Live purely in the moment on a rampage of appreciation.”

Wayne W. Dyer

When you love and appreciate something, you take good care of it. That is true of ourselves, our loved ones, and our homes.

Instead of letting guilt and shame spur us into cleaning, we can use appreciation instead.

The first thing I do each morning is open the blinds on the French doors and say thank you to my garden. I exclaim how beautiful it is and smile at the sunshine and the clouds.

This moment of appreciation made me wonder about shining up my windows…

A few days ago I wrote a blog on Boredom and so now I am sharing my process with you as I walk through it.

I felt really bored. I came to Portugal as a stop-gap, I had no intentions of getting stuck here for a long time.

Don’t get me wrong, Portugal is a beautiful country and I am considering living here in the future, but it was not part of my current plan.

I got shifted here because of Covid. …
