BrightGuide Inc. is a startup company dedicated to helping people living with cognitive challenges through technology and scientific solutions. We are currently focused on the early stages of dementia, where people are still able to live at home with their loved ones and care partners. Our goal is to help families make this time as productive and enriching as possible for both the care partner and care recipient.

The founders, Krysta and Sameer started this company as a result of their own care giving experiences. They quickly realized that the existing tools and techniques aren’t enough to help people who are caring for loved ones with cognitive challenges and neurodegenerative conditions. Research has shown that caregivers put in extensive labor to enhance the quality of life of care recipients, and this takes a toll on the care partner’s health and career. According to a report published by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions,

“The lack of public home care services places increased demands, especially on women in the family and on volunteers, with often significantly negative consequences for their health as well as for their current and future employment.” -Before It’s Too Late: A National Plan for Safe Senior’s Care

Our goal is to provide a tool that will help both halves of the relationship, the care partner and the care recipient.

BrightGuide lets you create customized instructional videos for daily activities.

BrightGuide is a web application that helps care partners facilitate self-reliance in people living with memory challenges. Following along with templates, you can create instructional videos of the care recipient doing daily activities. The care recipient can succeed in those activities when faced with challenges by watching themselves in the videos. Using BrightGuide, there is no more need for frustrating verbal or written instructions.

Our priority is to make this product not only easy and convenient for use — but to also recognize that we must ensure the family’s well-being, privacy, and security at all times.

We help families reduce frustration. BrightGuide provides the means to dignified and graceful aging at home using research-backed assistive methods for self-guidance. Our solution helps overcome the underlying challenges of dementia by employing contextually rich audio-video instructions that substitute less effective written and verbal instructions.
