Brighton Digital Festival has a long(ish) and varied history but all you need to know is that it has been held over the years by a various people and/or organisations but now it’s independent…..

Much like a young person leaving home, this new independence led us to consider some important and existential life questions.

  • What is Brighton Digital Festival for?
  • Who is it for?
  • Is it Brighton’s digital festival or a digital festival that takes place in Brighton?
  • What good does it do?
  • Who does/should it benefit?
  • What is this festival like?
  • What is it not like?

Answers to these questions and others were crunched, chewed over and eventually synthesised into a coherent whole.

What has come out of that process is a manifesto that we’re all intensely proud of and happy to be measured against in the coming years. It’s a commitment, a statement of purpose, an indication that we’re willing to put our money where our mouth is. It’s both what we are and what we want to be.

I’m not aware of another festival like ours that has a public manifesto and I’m happy to see it out there on our new website.
