Brighton Digital Festival is delighted to announce that it has appointed Jenni Lloyd as its new Chair, starting immediately as the organisation prepares for its seventh festival this coming September. Jenni is a Brighton-based creative consultant who has dedicated her professional life to driving positive change in the city through innovative collaborations between the digital, business and social sectors. At this pivotal point in the festival’s development, Jenni joins to help steer its strategy, define its identity and advocate its mission.

Jenni’s appointment marks the next step forward at a key time for the festival. For the next two years, Brighton Digital Festival will be focused on refreshing its identity as an independent Community Interest Company (registered as CIC in 2016). The festival will be developing new regional partnerships with schools, technologists and businesses and continue to grow community engagement in the digital sector.

With extensive experience working both within and at the intersection of design, business and social networks, Jenni is poised to take the festival to new heights. Specialising in participative change for connected cultures, she is the founder of PurposeLab, a non exec director of Wired Sussex, and a Trustee of the Royal Pavilion and Museums Foundation. Previously, she was a creative director and curator of the annual Meaning Conference, co-organiser of Spring Forward Festival and director of radical transformation at consultancy NixonMcInnes.

Jenni Lloyd, new Chair of Brighton Digital Festival said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Brighton Digital Festival team at such an exciting point in the festival’s history. I believe that digital culture should be at the heart of Brighton’s identity and am looking forward to further raising our profile as a creative city.

“I am keen to ensure that the festival encompasses the diverse populations in and around the city, whilst providing inspiration and engagement that helps build our creative talent pool for the future. The Brighton Digital Festival provides us with a vehicle through which we can draw together different communities and develop a vision of the future that we want to build for ourselves — one that is enhanced by technology and based on radical collective creativity.”

Laurence Hill, Director of Brighton Digital Festival added: “I’m excited to welcome Jenni Lloyd as the new Chair for the festival. Her interests map very closely to our areas of interest for the festival over the next couple of years and her experience and passion for Brighton and Hove and its future as a socially-driven digital city make her the ideal person to represent and help shape the festival. I’m very much looking forward to working with her to take the festival forward.”
