New speakers announced for the Messy Edge
We’re delighted to announce two more speakers for our new in house conference.
Morehshin Allahyari is an Iranian born artist now living in New York. Her work deals with the political, social, and cultural contradictions we face every day. She thinks about technology as a philosophical toolset to reflect on objects and as a poetic means to document our personal and collective lives struggles in the 21st century. Morehshin is the co-author of The 3D Additivist Cookbook in collaboration with writer/artist Daniel Rourke.
She is the recipient of the leading global thinkers of 2016 award by Foreign Policy magazine.
In his work Daniel exploits speculative and science fiction in search of a radical ‘outside’ to the human, including extensive research on the intersection between digital materiality, the arts, and posthumanism. In his artistic practice Daniel devises and creates collaborative platforms that promote open and critical discourse on the topics of media theory and posthumanism.
The Messy Edge is an exploration of the frontiers of digital culture, in the form of a one-day conference. Taking place at the Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts on the University of Sussex campus, it will bring together artists, thinkers and doers to think about how we risk building a future on the deeply flawed foundations of the present.
