A Warm welcome to Brighton Electric Digest.

Introducing ADR - the Artist Development Rate

An important part of our studio manifesto is to support & encourage developing artists. To help meet this challenge we have created our new ADR scheme for you.

ADR is a set of pricing to make studio facilities & services more affordable to developing artists who are serious about having a career in music.

Are you unreleased, dedicated your life to music & currently working on your first album? Then you qualify for ADR membership rates.

ADR Rates 2018

Mon - Fri 10am - 2pm - £20
Mon - Fri 10am - 5pm - £49
Tramway Lager - £3.50 pint
25%+ Discount on recording rates
10%+ Discount on 10 sessions or more

Please email ADR@brightonelectric.co.uk to book & pick up your card.. Please only apply if you genuinely qualify. Thanks!

Gear nerd? We have now upgraded pro tools to 'Ultimate' - so you'll never need anything else, right? Also we acquired Soundtoys software & a few nice shiny mics, A Soyuz SU19 (as used by that Thom Yorke) & a sweet Cloud 44A ribbon mic based on an RCA 44 series.

We've also added a pair of Pioneer CDJ2000 Nexus decks to our rentals eqpt, available super cheap with venue hire or take 'em away.

We hope you enjoy joining in & any feedback would be great. If you have a story you would like to share with our studio community, please send it to us here & we can publish it. Thanks!

RECORDING STUDIO ROUND UP

"We've kicked into the busy Autumn season in the recording studios with the new production students learning their craft in Studio 2, its a real honour to play host to the next generation of top engineers. Long standing clients the Cure have been mixing live material in S1, The Xcerts, Rough hands, Parachute for Gordo & Raddidas have been working on EP and Single projects. We are also very excited to be welcoming the mighty Cravats later this month on a new LP session, not to mention Agron, Milk White Throat, Youth and a host of others moving into December. Be sure to get in touch to grab the last few days available before Xmas!" - Jimi Wheelwright, Studio Manager.

ONLINE BOOKING NOW LIVE

BOOK ONLINE now available at Brighton Electric

After a lot of quite dull meetings discussing stuff like UX (user - experience) and some not insignificant investment, we are proud to offer an online booking system for you. It doesn't offer custom slots, lock outs or anything fancy, just the regular daytime & evening slots. You can use it to just check availability before calling in to book or book directly through it. A Credit/Debit card secures the booking & then you pay as normal on arrival at the studio. It's a work in progress so please let us know what you think. Maybe one day we'll even do an App, which feels very corporate but kinda cool...

How to write a good set list..

What makes a good set list? Here’s me, from The One Night Band to give you some magic tips.

Actually, let me burst that bubble straight away. I’ve been doing this for over 6 years now, and I’m still not 100% sure. I often believe “I know best” but how can I really know that what I consider is a bad song, really IS a bad song?!

One rule I live by is to sack off the slow numbers. Let’s have one slow song for the first dance then get the party started. Leave the other slow songs for the final number to calm to guests down (Think Wonderwall, or Angels!) then at the very end of the night, finish the DJ set with “Time of My Life” into “New York, New York” — Really show those guests how to relax! Works like a charm. continue
