Are you still heading where you really want to go?

Lift your head and take a look

Holidays are a great time to take a break from the minutiae of your usual work, step back, and view your current strategy from a higher level.

Execution is critical. But, when your head is always down, you may be drifting off course.

Much like swimming, you need to take a break, lift up your head, and make sure you are still heading where you really want to end up.

I find that weekends, holidays, and vacations can be a great time to reassess your life and the path you are on. But, you need to intentionally use the opportunity to do that. If you get into the habit of keeping busy with catch up work, or even recreation, you will never have time to evaluate and replan.

Take some time today to reflect on your current career path, how it integrates with your life goals, and if you are where you want to be. Lift your head, look out 10–20 years, and honestly ask yourself if you’re still on track. It’s not uncommon to discover that you have drifted off course, but there is no reason that you can’t make a change now.
