“Bullying is one of the most challenging problems parents and teachers face,” Murt said. “This contest encouraged children to speak out against bullying, while also helping them think and act creatively in taking a stand against bullies.”
The contest was open to all third-grade students.
The winners from each school were Audrey Kukla (Maple Glen Elementary School), Elizabeth Chavchanidze (Pine Road Elementary School), Christian Rector (Upper Moreland Intermediate School), Aurelia (Bryn Athyn Church School), Joey Cancelliere (St. Albert the Great), Ashley O’Doherty (Queen of Angels) and Stephanie Froehlich (Our Lady of Mercy).
Murt will host the winners in Harrisburg, where they will receive lunch and a tour of the state Capitol with their families. The winners will also receive a certificate of achievement.
The three judges who chose the winners were Gina Rondinelli from Murt’s district office, Sgt. Brian Newhall of the Upper Moreland Police Department and Renee Haney, a professional graphic designer.

Meanwhile, Murt will host the Fox Chase Cancer Center mobile mammography unit at his district office on Friday, April 24.
“Mammograms are a critical tool in assessing a woman’s health,” Murt said. “Don’t miss this convenient opportunity.”
The mobile mammography unit will be at Murt’s district office, 19 South York Road in Hatboro, on April 24, starting at 8 a.m.
Women who are interested in a mammography screening must be at least 40 years of age and have a prescription from their doctor to qualify. Health insurance will be accepted, but individuals who do not have health insurance still can qualify.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, contact Linda Hammell, director of cancer screening, at Fox Chase at 215–728–3554.
