Stories are never just for entertainment for children or amusement for
adults, they have meaning in them, they have the possibility of narrating
or interpreting differently. The Canterbury Tales is also similar to that.
Stories, told by different people to the audience with the stories of their
own. They have their own ways to tell and listen to the stories.
As Chaucer starts the stories, he starts by giving a detailed introduction
of each pilgrim to show who they are and where each of the stories that
will follow comes from. That gives the audience the idea of what to
listen for and even what to expect to hear. That is the importance of
stories, each one of them will be unique, each one with the ability to be
interpreted differently by who the listener is.
Stories also have the power to bring everyone together as in the tale,
different people, from a knight to a monk to a merchant and many more
came together to tell their stories and listen to others. It shows how
perhaps your curiosity to listen to others’ stories or your need to tell your
stories to others bring everyone together for a simple reason — stories.
