The Canterbury Tales details the journey of some characters during the middle ages. The author, Geoffrey Chaucer begins by describing each character with detail. He definitely makes sure you know exactly the person that they are. This is where the importance of storytelling comes in. As the reader, you are not left with “what ifs”, every question you may have about the characters should be answered throughout the story. That is how you develop your love for the story.

A story for me can mean a lot of things. A person doesn’t have to say a word and their actions can reflect their “story”. Or a person can sing a song and their “story” will be written in the lyrics. It’s an expression, to allow the reader/listener to feel what you feel or for that moment when you are hearing or seeing the story be told, for that moment you are walking in their shoes.

It’s important to tell stories, to continue to educate people in feeling different emotions. How I perceive a story may not be the same someone who just heard it perceive it. It’s healthy and useful to grow and learn as individuals.
