“I will tell the fairest of dreams, that came to me at midnight when mortal men abode in sleep.” The first lines of the poem describes the first narrative, a man who dreamed about Christ and what he went through. The second narrative is the personification of the cross. “Many years have gone-yet still have it in the remembrance.” These are the first words the cross say. The cross explains and describes how strong he had to be because Christ needed him to be. The poem uses war terms because compared of how Christ is described in other different texts, on this poem he is represented as a strong warrior. Christ is choosing to be there and go through all that for the people. The cross say so many times how much it hurts and how much he (the cross) wants to give up but Christ is not giving up and he is okay with everything that is going on. Also on the poem we see how the cross talks to the dreamer about how he must tell all men about his dream. My perspective of this poem is that the author made it be a dream so more people will believe it. By creating a dream and not a real story more people will actually think about it and pay attention.

The picture I chose is a man cutting down a tree. The cross explains how man made it to this painful thing when he was just a beautiful tree. Explaining how destructive a man can be.
