Screen Capture: Adam Woodyatt as Ian Beale in “EastEnders

The latest EastEnders episode, directed by John Howlett from a teleplay penned by Katie Douglas, came to BBC One on Monday, 18 January 2021.

The episode opens with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) tossing away a sandwich Sharon Beale (Letitia Dean) prepared for him before going out. Sharon has been slowly poisoning Ian for weeks.

Meanwhile, at the local police station, Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) observes Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis) getting out of a police car. Being in the back passenger seat of a police car, as everyone knows, isn’t a good luck.

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Ian’s mother, only wants the best for him. Kathy, at The Queen Victoria, confronts Sharon. Sharon’s motives, later, we see him not able to face food without feeling ill.

Sharon, in a telephone conversation with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), decides she can’t go through with the plan…
