Matt Ingram-Jones as d’Artagnan in “The Fourth Musketeer

The Fourth Musketeer, written and directed by Steve Lawson, is by far one of the better musketeer films recently brought to screen. Lawson’s film, distributed by High Fliers Films, sees Matt Ingram-Jones and Jonathan Hansler respectively portray young and old d’Artagnan.

Ingram-Jones and Hansler, in their own way, bring a certain degree of realism to the character. There is much that can be said for the work both Ingram-Jones and Hansler put into their character. It is easy to see, noting how experienced Hansler’s d’Artagnan has become, the inexperience Ingram-Jones portrays in his characterisation.

The story, with d’Artagnan recounting to Philippe how he became one of King’s Musketeers, is well known. The young d’Artagnan, at the behest of his father, travelled from Gascony to Paris. D’Artagnan, not long after his arrival, soon becomes embroiled in a devious plot between the King’s Musketeers and Cardinal Richelieu’s guards.
