Yesterday DFID published their Annual Report and Accounts 2018 to 2019 was published on 11 July 2019. The report outlines DFID’s achievements 2018 to 2019, linking the financial reporting to the delivery of our commitments across the world. According to the report, DFID met is 0.7% GNI spend commitment in 2018.
It would have been interesting to be a “fly on the wall” as International Trade Secretary met with various Trump administration senior figures in Washington, DC at a time when still fresh on their minds are the recent leaked emails critical of President Trump’s administration.
DIT also published their Annual Report and Accounts 2018 to 2019 this week setting out a comprehensive commentary on the performance, governance arrangements and expenditure of the for the period 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019. The Annual Report and Accounts 2019–2019 for the FCO were also published.
We had a very productive Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) business opportunities workshop at Grafton street yesterday. There are many opportunities for private sector to work with the CDB in the Caribbean, but at present a small UK presence exists in these potentially lucrative markets. DIT have a small team happy to support inquiries to opportunities, and we would be happy to link you up with them.
Join us on 16 July, as we host ICAI for a participatory focus discussion group on the use of UK aid to enhance mutual prosperity. The meeting will include brainstorming, small group and full group discussions with all inputs anonymised. The discussion aims to learn from UK businesses on experiences and views around mutual prosperity and its inclusion in programming
On 23 July, we host DFID for an overview of DFID’s communications strategy and discuss how private sector suppliers can engage and collaborate more effectively. This event will be ideal for senior level management and communications leads in the sector.
For the first time in 27 years, England has reached the ICC Cricket World Cup finals, and will go in as the favourite to win — that’s my Sunday activity sorted.
It’s been a hot and often humid week in most parts on England, so as we go into the weekend, keep hydrated and don’t forget some sun protection.

Meet the Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United Kingdom
We are delighted to welcome His Excellency Said T. Jawad, Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United Kingdom, for his first event at British Expertise International. He will cover some of the large infrastructure and humanitarian projects that are in development in Afghanistan and discuss what opportunities there are for British companies.
