Brixby has launched its Android app as a pilot that lets users find, navigate to and pay for EV charging

PRESS RELEASE — March 19, 2018

Brixby (www.brixby.io), a blockchain based transportation app, that utilizes the Ethereum network, has launched its first service pilot — electric vehicle (EV) charging. Currently the app has been released for Android devices, with iOS to follow shortly. The service allows finding EV chargers, navigating to them, seeing the infrastructure that is in close proximity, and, of course, starting the charging session and paying digitally for it. The app is super easy to use and requires just a quick registration. The service already offers 30+ fast and super-fast chargers located in Moscow, Moscow region and Cyprus.

It’s the first pilot launched under Brixby services. It will give the contributors the possibility to see the real product and its performance on the market and users to start charging their vehicles conveniently. Moreover, this pilot will allow Brixby to test the service with larger public and iterate it based on real usage experience. Brixby plans to launch its core services, parking, EV charging, and vehicle sharing, step by step based on market needs, eventually combining them into a single mobility app.

The initial plan was to launch EV charging in Q4 2018. However, due to the combination of a good work of our business development and technical teams and the right opportunity, Brixby was able to pilot service a lot faster. The product will need a few iterations prior to being ready for global launch, but the first step has already been taken into the right direction.

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said the following about the industry: “Connectivity, autonomous driving, car sharing, and electric drive systems — each one of these four trends has the potential to turn our industry upside down. But the real revolution lies in intelligently linking the four trends.” With the launch of EV charging, Brixby is one step closer to reaching this potential and providing linked mobility services to consumers.

In addition to the driver’s app, Brixby has also launched the EV charging management portal. The management portal is a tool for asset owners and service operators, where they will be able to set-up their services, including, description of the service, description of chargers, locations, pricing, payment methods, etc. Brixby contributors will also get a unique opportunity to view the portal and its functionality.

Daniil Titarenko, CEO and co-founder of Brixby: “When the right opportunity presented itself, the team grabbed it and flew with it. It was our chance to show the contributors and partners our dedication to the project and the ability to deliver a good product within very tight timeframes and still very limited resources. I think we did it well.”
