WHILE WE WEREN’T LOOKING, SNAPCHAT REVOLUTIONIZED SOCIAL NETWORKS

While we weren’t looking, a new firm rose up from the grounds just to be one of the most valuable American technology companies from the last 10 years since Facebook. So how did they do it? Snapchat is a social media/ messaging app with an ability to send pictures to all of your friends with special filters applied on your face. It’s a new way of sharing moments with your loved ones. How long the person on the other end can look at your picture is entirely up to you, and after a few seconds the picture or video deletes itself, leaving a small imprint in your brain. With that in mind the two Stanford fraternity brothers who created snapchat, became billionaires pretty quickly. With the SnapAd they became a target for companies to reach more consumers, for magazines to get more readers and celebrities to gain more popularity. Advertisers can also buy a geofilter. For example, the luxury jeweler Tiffany created a geofilter that worked only when someone was in a Tiffany store. Snapchat is unique and so are its users, maybe that’s why the app was such a huge success.
