We live in a culture that’s obsessed with the four-hour workweek, growth hacking, and the desire for instant results with minimal effort. Although you can get a huge win in a short period of time, long-term success requires focus on your vision, mission, and continuously improving your product or service.

In order to build a quality app, you need to do these three things extraordinarily well.

Be Detail-Oriented

It’s the little things in your product or service that make all the difference.

Make sure the code under the hood is beautiful, documented, and well-tested. There’s certainly a balance between over-engineering a product and making something shoddy in order to ship it.

Understand Your Users

Knowledge is power. Understanding the problem at hand and how the product we’re building is aligned with the business goals of the team is essential for making an incredible product.

Adjust

We don’t expect to get everything right from the beginning. That requires ongoing effort. Facebook was hacked up in a few weeks, but the constant evolving nature of the platform requires thousands of engineers working around the clock to make improvements.
