With Winter Storm Jonas shutting down Broadway and the streets of NYC, many theatergoers are left home with nothing to do. But no need to fret! Here is a list of our 7 favorite musicals available to watch on Netflix now! So grab a friend, some hot chocolate, a blanket and get your musical fix in for the day!
1. Shrek the Musical

What better way to get over the winter blues than watching Sutton Foster belt up a storm in this filming of the 2008 Tony Award Winning musical? The show features a score by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Violet) and is a sure fun time for the entire family!
2. On the Town

This 1949 movie musical, which was revived on Broadway in 2014, is the perfect way to experience New York City right from the comfort of your own home. The film stars legendary performers Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, and follows the story of three sailors on a mission to experience everything NYC has to offer in only 24 hours.
3. Anchors Aweigh

Not in the mood to watch three sailors take on NYC for a day? Then what about trying this 1945 musical comedy about two sailors taking on Hollywood for four days? The film, similar to On the Town, also stars Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, who play two sailors who end up meeting a young, aspiring singer and help her get an audition at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios.
4. White Christmas

It’s beginning to look like a lot like Christmas in New York (even though it’s almost February)! Lay back and relax with this Irving Berlin classic musical starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen.
5. The Last Five Years

This Jason Robert Brown written flick stars talent powerhouses Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde) and Anna Kendrick (High Society, Pitch Perfect). The musical, which appeared off-Broadway in 2002 and 2013, tells the story of a struggling actress and rising novelist who fall in love. The musical begins with Cathy’s story (played by Kendrick) beginning at the end of the relationship and going in reverse order to the beginning of the romance, while Jamie’s story (played by Jordan) is told in chronological order, from the beginning of the relationship to the end. The two stories meet together in the middle when Jamie proposes to Cathy.
6. High School Musical

Disney fans all over love this 2006 movie musical about a jock and brainiac discovering their love for performing and each other. And what better time to watch this fun loving musical than now, with the 10th anniversary special airing just a few days ago!
7. Hercules

You definitely cannot go wrong with this classic animated movie musical. And though Hercules never made its way to Broadway (well, not yet at least), its touching story and beautiful score have always had a special place in our hearts.
Not a fan of the musicals listed above? No worries! There are plenty others on Netflix available to watch with just a click of a button! So sit back, relax, sing along, and enjoy the first (and possibly last) snow day of the year!
