Oh boy… yeah and we’re often taught that women “want us” to “be assertive” & keep going if they’re turned on.

Sometimes, it comes from media, but more often it comes from peers. From men telling us that that’s how they get laid, and from women telling us “I just want someone to be a man, I don’t like it when men are pussies.”

Fortunately, many of us grow out of it & start following our actual instincts, without causing much harm. By growing out of it, I mean a combination of listening to grown women say “Yeah, some women may have told you that but don’t do that,” and recognizing that you’ll always feel better when you don’t make people uncomfortable, so you should trust your empathetic instincts when something feels wrong.

Others never grow out of it.
