Today I’m launching Broken Skin to wrap lessons from endurance and outdoor brands around a single publication. The focus is to look at these two sporting domains and see how athletes and organisations have come to terms with their own identities and approaches to work and play. I’ve often found the perspectives of athletes interesting in their own right, but also see them to be as relevant to spheres beyond sport, in particular resource and lifestyle management, social responsibility and, increasingly, environment.

Our first two posts form the departure point of Broken Skin. From Olympian Mirjam Jaeger, “Taking the Final Fall” dives into the difficulties of leaping from a professional athletics to the everyday job market and the insecurities linked to this shift in role. In “Reaching New Beaches” I look into a non-profit and its link with the surging corporate social responsibility wing of a forefront brand.

If you have have any feedback or an angle in mind, shoot me an email via will@zafiri.com.

Enjoy!
