A long, overdue update
Time for a quick explanation.
Hey creatives and copycats,
So this publication (as well as my activity on Medium) has been pretty quiet lately. And while I could give you a slew of valid excuses (from financial issues to new responsibilities), I will admit that I haven’t been in a writing mood lately.
To put it bluntly, my “writing career” essentially ended last year. For two years, I had a somewhat active Wordpress blog and an Instagram page full of poetry. I grew a small audience and had my work published on different platforms. It felt like I was finally fulfilling my dream as a writer. Then the crash happened.
Silence. Lack of participation. Blog posts left unread. With the lack of production output and self-doubt settling in, I came to the realization that I wasn’t a consistent writer. I wouldn’t be able to keep with the latest writing challenge or continue reading resources that would supposedly aid me in writing journey. The fatigue eventually led to hanging up the proverbial pen.
I say all that to say that I’m still struggling with myself as a writer. And that’s partially why I made some changes to the publication: so that we can all struggle together as a community.
What I expect from the publication
As of now, this publication is a free-for-all. As long as your submissions are honest and original, they will be approved. From thoughts on current events to poetry to even a small update about your day. I want to give new writers a place to publish their work.
I’m hoping to add some editors to keep the flow of content going in my absence. If I don’t publish your work right away, I’ll get to it as soon as possible.
What to expect from me
Because I’ve started some other ventures earlier this year, don’t expect me a lot from me so soon. My current plan is to write at least one post a month. Inspiration is pretty elusive at the moment and I need to start small. As time progresses and the publication grows, I may be able to contribute more.
I know it’s a quick update, but I felt irresponsible letting this publication gather dust.
Well, time to get back to work.
