Halloween has come and gone and the holidays are right around the corner. This can only mean one thing: brunching season is upon us. You may be thinking, “brunching season? You mean cuffing season?” But nope, you read that correctly, it’s brunching season. But, brunching is a great way to meet someone to spend the cold winter months with.

Even though we’re DTB all year-round, there’s something that makes going to brunch this time of year a little extra special.

Here are 5 reasons why this is the best season to brunch:

1. Friends and family come to town.

This is the time of year when family comes to visit and old friends are back in town, and brunch is one of the best ways to reconnect with someone you haven’t seen in a while. What better way to make small talk with your second cousin or gossip about which girls from high school are engaged or pregnant and haven’t aged well? You can loosen up with a couple drinks, order your favorite brunch meal, and chat the morning (and afternoon) away.

2. We’re entering peak football season.

Whether or not you’re a football fan you have to admit that getting together with friends and family to watch a game on a Sunday afternoon is always a good time. Since we’re entering the height of football season, the games get even more exciting and rivalries start to heat up. Football and brunch go together like Brady and Belichick, so there’s really no excuse not to be brunching this time of year.

3. Winter is coming.

The weather is getting colder and brunch is the perfect excuse to stay inside and warm up with a glass of something hot. Aside from the classic brunch beverages like mimosas and Bloody Mary’s, there are tons of new items that appear on the drink menu this time of year. In case you need a few ideas, here’s a couple classics to keep you warm all winter long: mulled cider or wine, hot chocolate, egg nogg, Irish coffee, hot toddy, gingerbread latte, and really anything you can add Baileys to.

4. The holiday season can be stressful.

Between trying to find the perfect gifts, traveling, bills, family drama, etc., the holidays can be a stressful time for everyone. One of the best ways to relieve some stress is to brunch. You can spend a few hours with your friends and forget about your worries for a while. Add in a couple drinks and you’ll be feeling jolly in no time.

5. Everyone is more cheerful.

With all the holiday decorations and people out and about, there’s a cheerful vibe in the air. People are generally nicer and friendlier this time of year so it’s a good time to be on the social scene. There’s always a lot of menu specials and themed brunches so you can really get in to the holiday spirit. Brunch brings people together and that’s exactly what this time of year is for.
