What your brunch meal says about you

Brunch is, hands down, the best meal. When you combine food, friends, drinks, conversation, and a few laughs, you really can’t lose. Even though all these things factor in to a successful brunch, the star of the show is usually the meal itself. And, if you haven’t guessed it yet by the title of this post, your meal choice says a lot about you. Whether you’re brunching with us for a brunch fit event (click here to see upcoming ones) or just brunching with your friends and family, your meal says a lot about you. While it can be fun to try something new, I’m sure you all still have that one go-to meal at brunch. Keep reading to find out what that favorite brunch meal says about you.
Omelette:
You like tradition. Omelettes have been a breakfast and brunch staple since the beginning of time and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. You like having the security of knowing what to expect. You appreciate being able to add whatever you want to make it your own made-to-order omelette. Maybe you’re a mushroom and pepper kind of guy or a spinach and goat cheese kind of girl. Whatever you fill it with, you’re trying to stay somewhat healthy because, let’s face it, most brunch food isn’t exactly low calorie.
Eggs Benedict:
You love brunch. You’re always DTB and you really live it up when you do. You’re the one everyone can count on when they want to be go out and be social. You’re definitely indulging in a “boozey brunch” and are planning to Bloody Mary’s.
Pancakes
You grew up eating pancakes and still aren’t ready to let go of the thrill of dousing your pancakes in syrup on a Saturday or Sunday morning. You’re easy going, rarely cause drama, and are just along for the ride at brunch.
Breakfast Sandwich
You’re hungover. You’re trying to cure your hangover with food but it’s probably not working. You’re afraid to check your text messages from the night before and you’re trying to decide whether to start with coffee or just jump right in to the booze. You’re really struggling but props for making it to the brunch anyway.
Belgian Waffles
You like your food to be fun. Bonus points if it’s a DIY waffle bar. You have a sweet tooth and want to eat food that not only tastes good but it appetizing to look at. You’re not that in to posting your meals on social media, even though those waffles topped with whipped cream and strawberries would give even the haters FOMO.
Eggs and Toast:
Eggs and toast is like the old flame you keep going back to because they’re “comfortable”. You’re not ready to try anything new and exotic so you’re sticking to your routine and playing it safe. Maybe you’ll spice it up with some strawberry jam or throw some hot sauce on those eggs, but you’re definitely not down to try anything too crazy.
Avocado Toast:
Avocado toast screams millennial brunch. You always know what the next big thing is in the foodie world. You think carefully about where you’re going to go for brunch and you’ve carefully considered all the menu options before finally settling on your avocado toast. Even though there are new items gaining hype, you know that avocado toast is still fairly trendy and it won’t let you down. You’ve mastered the art of taking an Instagram photo of your food and this brunch will be no exception.
Scones, Crepes, or some other kind of pastry:
You’re bougie. You probably started your brunch with a shot of espresso or a cold brew and are catching up on the news on your phone while everyone around you sips on their mimosas and chats about the drama in their life.
Breakfast Burrito:
There are roughly 100 different kinds of breakfast burritos these days but I’m talking about the ones with meat, cheese, vegetables, AND potatoes. If you’re ordering this, you’re pretty hungry. You likely had a big workout earlier in the morning or are fueling up for a big lift session later in the afternoon.
Something off the lunch menu:
I’m not here to judge, but why are you even at brunch if you’re ordering off the lunch menu? Kind of kidding, but kind of not. I realize I’m answering my own question here but it’s probably because your friends or family wanted to go. Or, maybe you’re trying to appease your girlfriend’s/boyfriend’s endless requests for a brunch date. Either way, you’re not that into brunch and could live the rest of your life without any of the above items and never give it a second thought.
