The first of a weekly series of updates on what’s happening with the Portland City Council.

(This is the kind of thing I’ll get the City to do if I’m elected in November.)

> Monday, February 6 @ 5:30pm — City Council Meeting

City Council Chambers

Major agenda items:

  • A series of zoning and code changes limiting the height of any developments around Fort Sumner Park on North Street on Munjoy Hill, to protect the park’s scenic view. (Councilors will vote on these changes on February 20.)

Read the full agenda here.

> Wednesday, February 8 @ 5:30pm — Housing Committee Meeting

City Council Chambers

Major agenda items:

  • Final vote on new Short Term Rental (aka Airbnb) regulations. (Public comment will be taken.)

> Thursday, February 9 @ 5:30pm — Finance Committee Meeting

Room 209 (Second Floor to the left)

Major agenda items:

  • Presentation on the proposed $61 bond to repair four elementary schools, which was passed unanimously by the School Board last week. (No vote will occur this meeting. Public comment will NOT be taken.)
  • Discussion of the City Manager’s proposed Fiscal Year 2018 (July 2018-June 2019) Capital Improvement budget. (This budget is for capital projects only — not operating costs for existing services or departments. The City Manager’s proposal is for $18 million — approximately $5 million more than last year.)
