- Martin Luther King Recognition Advisory Task Force — 3:30pm in Room 209, City Hall
This task force, formed earlier this year to find an appropriate way to recognize the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will today tour the “Amethyst Lot” on the Eastern Waterfront, and discuss other potential sites to name after MLK. The City Council will discuss the proposed zoning change of the “Camelot Farm” property in Stroudwater, requested by a developer so they can build 90+ single family homes on the site. They will also discuss the proposed cold storage facility on the West End waterfront. Public comment will be taken. The Portland Bike/Ped Advisory Committee will meet to discuss transportation, bicycle, pedestrian, and mobility issues in Portland.

Key agenda items:
- Discussion of building smaller emergency homeless shelters, instead of larger centralized shelters. Public comment will NOT be taken on this item.
- Discussion of a survey/study to determine the effects and results of last year’s closing of the Positive Health Care program at the India Street Clinic. This program served 230 patients with HIV, who have had to find care elsewhere since the program closed on December 31, 2016. Public comment WILL (I think) be taken.
- Discussion and public comment on Councilor Batson’s proposal to prohibit the display of wild and exotic animals for entertainment (e.g. circus animals). Public comment WILL be taken.

Key agenda items:
- Discussion of safety inspections of rental housing conducted by the Fire Department. Learn more about the current inspection process here. Since the Noyes Street fire, safety inspections have been conducted by the Housing Safety Office, but that office was discontinued earlier this year. Public comment will NOT be taken on this item.
- Vote to amend the Short Term Rental (e.g. Airbnb) ordinance to revoke Short Term Rental permits once a house has been declared a “Disorderly House” twice. Read the amendment here. Public comment WILL be taken on this item (I think).
