> Tuesday, September 12 @ 5:30pm — Health & Human Services Committee

City Hall, State of Maine Room(second floor, to the right)

Key agenda items:

  • Panel discussion with social service and public health experts on the proposed new emergency homeless shelter, followed by a public hearing on the subject. The City is planning a single, large emergency shelter to replace the existing Oxford Street Shelter in Bayside, which is not able to adequately serve the city’s needs and is something of a health and safety hazard. The City has not chosen a location for the new shelter yet, but has changed zoning code to allow it to be placed in parts of the city other than just Bayside, including off-Peninsula locations. Public comment WILL be taken.
